Hello Friend,
This page was set up, so you can get an overview of who I am, what I do, and how we can keep in touch. Before you venture into my posts and free information, please take a moment to get acquainted.
My passion is education, quality education and ICT. I strongly believe that good education is the key to a world full of peace, prosperity and happiness.
With regard to ICT, I was on friendly terms with the legendary C64 and made my first steps with BASIC. My first PC had a 105MB hard disk and, at the time, a very proud owner at the time. Hard to believe these days. In 1993 I wrote my first website in HTML. In 1995 I started coding for my own company. In 1997 I discovered the power of Perl/PHP and MySQL in order to serve dynamic websites and I have continued to develop an intimate relationship with these tools since. In the following years I learnt the advantages of CSS, the skies and the limits of JavaScript (and Ajax). I am also well acquainted with the popular Apache webserver. Wherever possible I favour the OS Linux, the David in numbers and Goliath in performance. Find a more detailed list of my skills in my Online Resume.
At TigerICT.com we monitor many school websites and can see enormous potential for schools to develop quality and reliability on a daily basis. Unfortunately many schools have a very slow decision making process and have experienced limitations with other providers of ICT.
We can make an average website a success for parents, teachers and students and a pleasure to use for administrators, registrars and managers. Often we face the argument “But we have a website” in discussions. The same way you can have a website you can have a car. If you are happy with your 10 year old Honda Jazz, you shouldn’t seek to change it. But if you feel that everything is a bit tight, it’s slow and uses a lot of petrol… we should have a word. So if your school website leaves many desires unanswered, if it is slow and needs a lot of time, we should have a word.
The products and services that we provide at TigerICT.com help your school to stand out, get noticed, and get more business!
My wife Deborah used to be a principal in an international school. So you can imagine, we know schools from the inside and the outside. And so far I haven’t come across a school that we couldn’t help to improve. Even our number one role model, University of Cambridge, profited from our work.
Friend requests are always welcome, if you are somehow connected to a school, perhaps a teacher, manager or administrator or a passionate parent or student. Please don’t send a friend request if you are promoting doubtful stuff or have no sense for education and its importance in our society.
You can connect with me in several ways:
Currently my preferred platforms are LinkedIn, facebook and Twitter. Google+ is still in an experimental phase. But feel free to have a go anyway.
